The estimated institutional payment for an academic year fellowship is $18,000. The estimated institutional payment for a summer fellowship is $5,000. The subsistence allowance (stipend) for an academic year fellowship is $15,000. The subsistence allowance for a summer fellowship is $2,500.

Students must be enrolled full time, have a strong academic record, and a demonstrated interest in African studies.
Description
The African Studies Center offers Academic Year and Summer Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowships for graduate and undergraduate students. The priority languages for the ASC will be Arabic, Lingala, Kiswahili, and Wolof.
