Description

The Bridging Scholarships are offered by the United States-Japan Bridging Foundation to help fund students studying abroad in Japan. It is co-sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Japanese and is funded by foundations, corporations, and individuals. With these funds, the Foundation can award around 75 scholarships each year. Undergraduate students majoring in any field of study are eligible to apply, and prior study of Japanese is not required.

Note: Airfare is not included in this award.

This scholarship is re-starting in Spring of 2022 after Fall 2021 scholarships were cancelled due to COVID. Applicants for Fall 2021 and academic year 2021-22 scholarships should contact the program by October 16 if they are able to defer their study in Japan to begin in the Spring 2022 semester. The program will hold students’ applications and consider them for a Spring 2022 one-semester scholarship.
