Submit applications by 7:00pm Eastern Time on the deadline. This deadline is for students wishing to study in Japan beginning in Spring 2020. The deadline for programs beginning in Fall 2020 will be in April 2020.

This scholarship is not available for students studying in summer programs. Each Bridging Scholarship winner must submit a written report about his or her time in Japan to the AATJ within 90 days of returning home.
The Bridging Scholarships are offered by the United States-Japan Bridging Foundation to help fund students studying abroad in Japan. It is co-sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Japanese and is funded by foundations, corporations, and individuals. With these funds, the Foundation can award around 75 scholarships each year. Undergraduate students majoring in any field of study are eligible to apply, and prior study of Japanese is not required.
Note: Airfare is not included in this award.
