Description
The Killam Fellowships Program provides an opportunity for exceptional undergraduate students from American universities to spend either one semester or a full academic year as an exchange student in Canada.
As a non-partner institution, UNC students are only eligible to apply to the Open Competition Program (program option 2).
Students will enroll as fee-paying visiting students at their host institution in Canada. The applicant is responsible to apply for admission of his/her chosen institution. However, the student may choose to apply for an existing exchange program through their home institution, and attend the host institution as an exchange student.
Through the Open Competition Program, you may apply to any degree granting institution of your choice in Canada.
Applicants must be proficient in French, should the student plan to study at a French language institution.
The fellowship includes $5,000 for one semester (enough to cover tuition, room, board, etc.), health insurance allowance, up to CA$800 for in-country travel, orientation in Ottawa and a spring seminar in Washington, DC.
COVID-19 Update – The Killam Program will be operating, with some restrictions. Decisions about the current and upcoming academic years are currently under review and will depend on travel restrictions and the policies and practices of the individual host universities.
