The Marshall Scholarships finance up to 40 young Americans of high ability to study for a graduate degree in the United Kingdom. Students can apply for one or two-year scholarships, and applicant assessments are based on academic merit, leadership potential and ambassadorial potential.
The five objectives of the Marshall Scholarships program are to: a) enable intellectually distinguished young Americans, their country’s future leaders, to study for a graduate degree in the UK; b) help Scholars gain an understanding and appreciation of contemporary Britain; c) contribute to the advancement of knowledge in science, technology, the humanities and social sciences and the creative arts at Britain’s centers of academic excellence; d) motivate Scholars to act as ambassadors from the USA to the UK and vice versa throughout their lives thus strengthening British and American understanding; and e) promote the personal and academic fulfillment of each Scholar.
Applicants must be endorsed by the Office of Distinguished Scholarships in order to apply for the Marshall Scholarship. Interested applicants are strongly encouraged to meet with the ODS director to learn more about the application process.
